Daesin

The project dated from May 2022 through December 2023, revolves around the concept of affirmation, statement and layers which gets omitted in a proposition, turns down into an Identity.

Inspired by Martin Heidegger’s famously quoted proposition the work travels around the economic crisis of Bengal and the often forgotten peripheries of Kolkata, a city on the eastern part of India. Para-phrazing the work in documentary style of Walker Evans rather than a social documentary tradition of India’s colonial legacy, the series weaved together the void of the interior and the exterior under the current political economy.
