I am a Kolkata-based photographer who explores the boundaries of visual narrative. I photograph everyday phenomena and objects with exacting attention to detail and mitigated through filters of language, memory, theory, and bias.
In this way, I explore the fallibility of the medium and notions beyond a decisive single moment. Instead, I lay out a series of images intertwined through gestures and patterns.
To structure my photographic imagery, I focus on architecture and archetypes as signifiers of cultural forces and anthropological progression. I work predominantly in black and white to emphasize the organizational quality of the elements in a frame.
I craft the structure in a way akin to modern electronic music-making, with particular attention to how the meaning of a single note transforms into a new object when put into a series. These concerns coincide with my involvement with man-altered landscapes and question the concept of Home, Absurdism, and Identity.
My art is also based on applying texts to contextualize and then decontextualize the memories and experiences gathered in between taking photographs and sequencing them for the final edit.
